When shopping for a tablet, you should consider why you’re choosing this form factor over a laptop or even a larger smartphone. A well-specced model can offer near laptop-level performance while providing more portability. On the other hand, their screens can provide a more immersive experience than a phone.

With that in mind, it’s hard to go wrong with the Apple iPad Air, which offers a good mix of power in a thin and light body. However, if you don’t need a ton of horsepower, you could save some money by perusing the refurbished market. You can get a refurbished 2013 iPad Air for just $106 as part of our Refurbished Event, which ends on September 30.

We rated this model 92 out of 100 when it was first released. While it doesn’t boast the latest and greatest internals or features, if you simply want to stream movies or read e-books without the bulk of a laptop, this tablet could serve you well. It features an Apple A7 chip and 1GB of RAM to run all your apps, which it displays on a 9.7-inch Retina display.

The 2013 iPad Air runs iOS 12, which received a security update just last month, so you can expect your device to remain protected for a while longer. Additionally, the tablet offers Siri functionality and Bluetooth for wireless accessories. The only downside is that it doesn’t come 4G-unlocked, but you can use WiFi to connect to your network. Finally, the first-generation iPad Air offers up to 10 hours of battery life off a single charge (and comes with a charger), which should be adequate for a full day of moderate use.

This model earned a B-grade refurbished rating, indicating that there may be light scratches and scuffs on the body. However, the internals will operate as normal for a fraction of Apple’s latest offerings.

During our Refurbished Event, you can purchase this 2013 iPad Air and charger for $106, down from $499. This promotion ends on September 30, and you don’t need a coupon to claim this price.
